Divorse, Legal Separation and Annulment: What's easier?

Contrary to popular belief there are more ways to end a marriage than just divorce.

Divorce may be freely utilized today as a way to end a marriage but in truth, it is the last stage for the dissolution of marriage. It removes all the legalities that bind two individuals when they were married. Divorce however isn't in all countries. Some do not allow for divorce in any way while some demand a tougher set of regulations just like annulment.

People who wish to end their marriage should first know all the options that are offered to them. Couples may either go for divorce, legal separation or annulment. The three are greatly different though all are procedures that may end a marriage.

Divorce, as i've already explained, terminates the marriage and the legal duties and responsibilities which a couple has for each other. It cancels the marital status of the parties involved and enables them to get married again should they wish. It is far easier to get a divorce in the usa than say annulment. For this reason most people would certainly be satisfied with this than go through the rougher battle of getting an annulment. Really the only tough thing with this procedure is when it involves child custody. Most of the time, the fight for custody is what makes the procedure hard.

An annulment, on the other hand, declares the marriage null and void. In affirming this, the marriage is going to be declared to have not happened at all! Generally, the terms that can make an annulment possible are not as easy like for example, marriage when you are underage and there is no consent from the parents for the marriage or if the marriage took place under false pretenses. Frequently, these conditions involve falsehoods, non-declaration of legal commitments or not adhering to the legal terms of marriage.

Legal separation is a notch below divorce with regards to removing all legal obligations and duties. It is nevertheless tougher to obtain one. In legal separation, the partners agrees to live apart but will still support one another and have legal commitments to each other.
